Support

Please note the following options you have for support:

One-on-one support: If you need someone to talk to, in a confidential setting, about stresses, pressures, problems, or issues you’re experiencing as a member of our community, please contact Dan Pugh of Regional HIV/AIDS Connection (formerly the AIDS Committee of London) to set up a one-on-one support session. Dan is available to offer support and referrals to you based on your unique situation. One-on-one support is non-judgmental, confidential, and is always done with an experienced professional. One-on-one support for the Trans community: If you need someone to talk to about stresses, pressures, problems, or issues you’re experiencing as a member of the trans community or an ally, advocate, friend or loved one of a trans person, please contact the Alphabet Community Centre. The Centre provides one-on-one support over the phone and in person. The Centre can provide referrals to health, housing and shelter supports for the trans community and also patient advocacy in interacting with the medical, psychiatric, and legal systems. info@acclondon.ca

“Open Closet” Support Group: If you’re 14 to 18 years old, Regional HIV/AIDS Connection offers a social-support and safe group for LGBTQ teens. This award winning program is a great option for those who are new to University (please note you can enter the group at 18 years old at the latest, but you may stay until you’re 20). It is held every Friday night in London from 7 to 9 pm. For more information call: 519-434-1601 or e-mail Dan: DPugh@hivaidsconnection.ca.

“SWAT” (SouthWest Advocates for Trans) Support Group: If you are trans identified or a support, community friend or ally for trans people, a support group is offered from 7 to 9 pm on the 1st Thursday and 3rd Tuesday of every month at London Intercommunity Health Centre. The group is drop-in and no notice is required. Details about the group, directions, and contact information can be found here: http://www.tgstation.com/london/
